Cosmology with Gtc . a Combined Mm - Optical Galaxy Cluster Survey

چکیده
The CMB Planck satellite (ESA) will provide a catalogue of ≈ 30000 galaxy clusters (Sunyaev-Zel'dovich effect) between redshift 0 and ≈ 2-3 (depending on the cosmological model). This hughe catalogue of clusters will allow detailed studies of the evolution of the cluster population with redshift which will constrain the cosmological model. The identification of the high redshift clusters should be done with a large telescope (like GTC) since Planck data alone will not provide any clue about the redshift of the clusters. In this work we show that an optical follow up of only ≈ 300 clusters (randomly selected from the Planck catalogue) is needed in order to distingish models with or without a cosmological constant.

Cosmology with Galaxy Clusters through the Sunyaev-zel’dovich Effect
Future Sunyaev-Zel’dovich effect (SZE) surveys will detect thousands of clusters, many of them at high redshift. We show how the SZE number counts as a function of flux can be used as a useful way of constraining the cosmological model. The constraints can be dramatically improved if redshift information is provided for a small subsample of the observed clusters. In this work we present the con...

baryonic matter distribution in the large-scale structures is one of the main questions in cosmology. This distribution can provide valuable information regarding the processes of galaxy formation and evolution. On the other hand, the missing baryon problem is still under debate. One of the most important cosmological structures for studying the rate and the distribution of the baryons is gal...

We present first results from the Southern Cosmology Survey, a new multiwavelength survey of the southern sky coordinated with the Atacama Cosmology Telescope (ACT), a recently commissioned ground-based mm-band Cosmic Microwave Background experiment. This article presents a full analysis of archival optical multi-band imaging data covering an 8 square degree region near right ascension 23 hours...
متن کاملPhysical Properties of Four Sze-selected Galaxy Clusters in the Southern Cosmology Survey
We present the optical and X-ray properties of four clusters recently discovered by the South Pole Telescope (SPT) using the Sunyaev-Zel’dovich effect (SZE). The four clusters are located in one of the common survey areas of the southern sky that is also being targeted by the Atacama Cosmology Telescope (ACT) and imaged by the CTIO Blanco 4-m telescope. Based on publicly available griz optical ...
